I paint out of curiosity. I paint out of need.

Then I feel free. Then I feel me.

Pictures grow in my mind. Pictures shape in my heart.

Then the growth and the shape are revealed in front of me.

The colors, the media, the textures, the smells...

The images are pregnant...

The music in the background...

The senses are full...

 

My work of the past few years has consisted of prints, artist’s books, paintings, drawings and more recently video art. These are the result of a desire to capture time, a plethora of sensations and moments rapidly becoming yet another memory in the chaos of existence. I constantly search for forms, shapes and ways that will help me make sense of lived experience. The present becomes a multi-layered structure made up of memory as well as intention and imagination. I work in layers and series, actual and metaphorical ones. Most themes in my work evolve from a combination of visual memories and senses of the past and a sudden realization of connectedness with the present. The projects take slowly form in time, and the structure becomes an important part of the artwork.
